Daniel Field (DNL) is under three miles from Augusta National, close enough to land in the morning and be on the course by lunch. Its runway is about 4,000 feet, so the size of the aircraft decides whether it’s your airport.

Daniel Field or Augusta Regional

Daniel Field suits turboprops and smaller jets. Large cabin jets usually land at Augusta Regional (AGS), about 10 miles south, whose 8,000-foot runway is the longest in the area. Aiken (AIK) and Thomson (HQU) are the other airports in the FAA’s Masters week procedures. We’ll show you which airports your aircraft can use and how far each one is from the course.

Masters week procedures

Each year the FAA publishes special air traffic procedures for the Augusta-area airports, covering the whole tournament week, with preferred routes and temporary control towers at some airports. Parking is booked through each airport’s FBO. In recent years, Augusta Regional has closed a runway to make room for parked aircraft.

Sunday and Monday departures

Traffic builds from midweek. Early on, many aircraft drop passengers off and leave the same day or the next morning. After the final round comes a heavy push of departures on Sunday and Monday, and when the airspace is busy the FAA can hold departures or assign departure times.

Badges first, then parking

Ramp space is limited at all four airports during the tournament, and they ask for parking to be arranged as early as possible. Once your badges are confirmed, book the aircraft and the parking together.
