How game week works
The FAA runs Super Bowl week as a special event, with its own air traffic procedures for the host region and a parking reservation program that covers most private flights, drop-offs included. Each airport’s FBO issues the reservations.
The game-day flight restriction
For several hours around kickoff, a temporary flight restriction centered on the stadium keeps most private flights out. Recent games have used a 10-nautical-mile inner core and a 30-nautical-mile outer ring, which can close the airports nearest the stadium during that window.
Choosing the airport
Van Nuys and Burbank are 17 to 20 miles north of the stadium, so plan on game-day traffic. Long Beach is about 14 miles southeast. Hawthorne is two miles away but sits inside the flight restriction. We’ll help you weigh the drive against the timing.
Parking goes first
Overnight parking fills first. Once it’s gone, an aircraft can still drop you off and come back for you, but that takes a reservation each way.
