Redmond’s two long runways handle most jets, and downtown Bend is 20 to 25 minutes away. The size of the aircraft decides which of the two airports you use.

Redmond or Bend Municipal
Redmond (RDM) has two runways of about 7,000 feet and takes most jets. Bend Municipal (BDN) is about five miles from town, but its single runway is 5,200 feet long and 75 feet wide, with no tower, which suits smaller aircraft.
Warm afternoons at Redmond
Redmond is at about 3,100 feet. We’ll check that the aircraft can leave with everyone and their bags, because warm summer afternoons cut what it can carry.
Golf months and ski months
Golf runs from about April through October. Mt. Bachelor is about 22 miles from town and usually opens in late November. Snow and deep cold can slow both airports in winter.
